Accident recovery…Over the last three years the improvement has not only freed me to sail and hike but it has stretched and strengthened me so that I feel better all over and can lead an energetic life again. I left my last lesson two days ago pain-free and convinced that I was ten feet tall. – Mrs. P. McBride
Gentle exercise…I originally started pilates because I kept getting injured doing other modes of exercise and kept having to visit my Physiotherapist. I find The Pilates Studio Ltd is excellent at tuning into my personal needs and helping me to understand my own body better. The standard of teaching is exceptionally high and I really value their ongoing enthusiastic support. – Mrs. S. Lipson
Slipped disc…I herniated a disk in my lower back and spent eight months in misery – too many pain killers and (expensive!) trips to the chiropractor providing only temporary relief. I was introduced to Sarah Tal and her team at The Pilates Studio Ltd., on Great Portland Street, London W1, which makes them ideal for someone who works locally. After a personal assessment the team tailored my Pilates regime to address my problems, which included the Bowen Technique. For the first two visits I was skeptical but I started to feel real results in my second week and by the end of the sixth week I was pain free. – Mr. G. Tees
Uninterested in exercise…I have enjoyed taking Pilates classes and the Bowen has really helped to relax me, and I always leave the Studio feeling incredibly rejuvenated. Sarah gently guides me through sessions with a healing touch and helps me straighten and correct my movements. I have never looked forward to exercise before, but at The Pilates Studio I feel more positive about staying focused on my exercise regime and I am eager to continue to improve my posture and level of fitness. – Mrs. K. Deak
Knee surgery…Pilates lessons at The Pilates Studio Ltd made a huge difference to how quickly and fully I recovered from knee surgery. The instructors have a real gift for understanding what you need, and within weeks I was back in my favorite dance classes. – Claire
Strength and agility…The wonderful thing about The Pilates Studio is the personal attention. The teachers quickly get to know how your body works and adjust their help to what you need. You are never just part of a class. I’ve been going there regularly for 15 years because it keeps me agile and strong. – Prof. J. Freeman

“Falling out of a tree at the age of 65, breaking a shoulder blade and crushing a lot of vertebrae, is not the best thing that ever happened to me – but it very nearly is! Thanks to the resulting back pain which was settling in, clearly in perpetuity, a kind friend told me about Pilates, adding that she went to The Pilates Studio Ltd at 116 Great Portland St. That is where I met Sarah Tal who dismayed me at first because she was so determined to diminish the pain, maybe eliminate it, that I would have to invest considerable attentiveness and concentration.
It was all worth the effort, I walked a mile and a half home pain-free after my first lesson and then discovered that I could keep myself pain-free by doing Pilates exercises during the week before going back to Sarah for the next dose of her highly intelligent and skillful instruction. Over the last three years the improvement has not only freed me to sail and hike but it has stretched and strengthened me so that I feel better all over and can lead an energetic life again. I left my last lesson two days ago pain-free and convinced that I was ten feet tall.” – Mrs. P. McBride
In the first couple of years I tried three different well known studios before finding Sarah Tal’s “The Pilates Studio Ltd” near the BBC in Great Portland Street, and I’ve been going there faithfully ever since. I’d equate it with a favourite restaurant – small is beautiful.
Despite being a “grumpy old man” I feel fitter and healthier for my regular Pilates sessions and it has certainly helped to keep my body balanced such that I can continue to bicycle not only every day in Central London but two or three times a year on ambitious adventures oversees which entail riding 1,000 kilometres or more. My cycling can cause havoc with my hamstrings, quads and shoulders if not redressed with my weekly sessions at Sarah’s.
There’s rarely more than four other clients and the studio is light and tranquil. Over the years I’ve seen instructors come an and but I can say honestly that Sarah has always recruited excellent staff. It HAS to be good to keep me going back, week in, week out for me not to be tempted – through pressure of work which is ever present – to cancel or postpone. I’ve made several friends at The Pilates Studio Ltd and I count Sarah as one of them. I am a happy customer.” – Councillor P. Braithwaite
Then I was introduced to Sarah Tal and her team at The Pilates Studio Ltd., on Great Portland Street, London W1, which makes them ideal for someone who works locally. The rest, as they say, is history.
They gave me a personal assessment and tailored my Pilates regime specifically to address the problems I was experiencing. On average, I did two sessions a week. Sarah also used the Bowen Technique on me. For the first two visits I was sceptical but I started to feel real results in my second week and by the end of the sixth week I was pain free. (And I can’t tell you how good it feels!)
Now I don’t need to attend classes as frequently because they taught me a bunch of exercises I can do at home (or wherever I am). And that’s how I was able to start living a normal life again. I can’t recommend this team (especially Sarah) highly enough.” – Mr. G. Tees
Sarah gently guides me through sessions with a healing touch and helps me straighten and correct my movements. All of the instructors I’ve worked with convey the same sense of calm and their complete focus on you is very reassuring and professional. I have never looked forward to exercise before, but at The Pilates Studio I feel more positive about staying focused on my exercise regime and I am eager to continue to improve my posture and level of fitness.” – Mrs. K.
